Biography

Manish Malhotra is an Indian fashion designer, couturier and costume stylist based in Mumbai. He made his debut as a costume designer with the 1990 film Swarg and achieved his breakthrough with Rangeela (1995), for which he received the first Filmfare Award for Best Costume Design.

Malhotra has designed costumes for numerous Bollywood films, including Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Om Shanti Om (2007) and 3 Idiots (2009). He studied at Elphinstone College and launched his eponymous fashion label in 2004. He has also worked as a film producer and collaborated with the Mijwan Welfare Society to support traditional Indian crafts.
