Biography
Manu Dibango was a Cameroonian musician and composer. Born Emmanuel N'Djoké Dibango on 12 December 1933 in Douala, he died on 24 March 2020 in France.
He studied music in France and Belgium before establishing a career fusing jazz, funk and Cameroonian traditions. Dibango composed the soundtrack for Ousmane Sembène's Ceddo (1977) and is known for film scores including Kirikou and the Wild Beasts (2005) and September 11 (2002). His 1972 single 'Soul Makossa' brought international recognition.
