Biography
Marco Calvani is an Italian playwright, director, filmmaker and actor. Born in Prato, Tuscany, he trained as an actor and began writing for the stage in 2002. His plays have been commissioned and performed by theatres including the Phoenix Theatre in London, Théâtre de la Ville in Paris and La MaMa in New York. He is the founder and artistic director of Mixò, an international cultural centre supporting new work for stage and screen.
Calvani made his feature directorial debut with High Tide (2024), which he also wrote and produced. Earlier short films include The View from Up Here (2017), starring Melissa Leo and Leïla Bekhti. He has lived in the United States since 2013 and is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America and the Actors Studio Playwrights/Directors Unit. In 2025 he appeared as Claude in the Netflix series The Four Seasons.
