Biography
Margaret Irving (1898–1988) was an American stage and film actress. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she began her career in vaudeville and on Broadway, where she originated the role of Mrs. Whitehead in the Marx Brothers musical Animal Crackers (1928) and reprised it in the 1930 film adaptation.
During the 1930s she appeared in numerous films, including San Francisco (1936) as Della Bailey and an uncredited part in Wife vs. Secretary (1936). She later worked in television, notably as Aunt Gus in the sitcom The People's Choice. She was married to William Frederick James.
