Biography

Mari Yamamoto (born 4 February 1986) is a Japanese actress and journalist. She moved with her family to London in 1991 and returned to Tokyo in 1994. She studied international relations at the International Christian University in Tokyo and trained in method acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York, where she was also a member of The Bats acting company at The Flea Theater.

Yamamoto has worked as a journalist, including with American journalist Jake Adelstein. She contributed to the writing staff of the television series Tokyo Vice and became a producer on its second season. Her acting credits include the film Kate (2021), a recurring role in the series Pachinko (2022), a main role in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023–), and the role of Aiko Nakajima in the film Rental Family (2025).
