Biography

Maria Dragus is a Romanian-German actress born in 1994 in Dresden. She trained in dance at the Palucca University of Dance in Dresden and began acting as a child, appearing in early television roles such as in the series Ein Engel für alle (2007).

She gained international attention for her role as Klara in Michael Haneke’s The White Ribbon (2009), for which she received the German Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. Subsequent film credits include If Not Us, Who? (2011), Kill Me (2012), Graduation (2016) as Eliza, Mademoiselle Paradis (2017), Mary Queen of Scots (2018) as Mary Fleming, and R.M.N. (2022).

In 2014 she was selected as one of the European Shooting Stars at the Berlin International Film Festival. She has also appeared in television series including Tatort and Alarm for Cobra 11 – The Highway Police.
