Biography
Maria Menezes is a Brazilian actress. Born in Aracaju, Sergipe, she moved to Salvador, Bahia, at the age of 18 and began her professional theatre career around 1990, performing with groups such as Los Catedrásticos.
She is known for film roles including the Waitress in Central Station (1998), Luzinete in Lower City (2005), Maria in Love for Sale (2006) and Lolita in The Two Deaths of Quincas Wateryell (2010). Her television work includes appearances in series such as Irmãos Freitas (2019) and a long-running role as Dona Encrenca in segments on Fantástico.
Menezes has received awards for her stage performances, including Best Actress at festivals in Florianópolis and Guaramiranga, and three nominations for the Prêmio Braskem de Teatro.
