Biography

Mariano Tufano is an Italian costume designer. Born in Naples in 1968, he graduated from the Accademia di belle arti di Napoli in 1992. He worked as a fashion designer before joining the Teatro San Carlo as an assistant in 1993, where he remained for six years. In 1999 he moved to Rome and began working in film.

Tufano's first credit as costume designer was on Nuovomondo (also known as Golden Door, 2006). He has since worked on films including Womb (2010), The Hand of God (2021) and Adagio (2023), as well as television series. He received the David di Donatello award for best costume designer for Nuovomondo in 2007 and was nominated for the same award for The Hand of God in 2022.
