Biography
Maricel Álvarez is an Argentine actress. She was born on 18 January 1973 in Buenos Aires. She studied literature at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and trained in contemporary theatre and dance.
Álvarez began her career in theatre and performance, collaborating closely with Emilio García Wehbi from 1999. She made her feature film debut as Marambra in Biutiful (2010). Her other film roles include appearances in To Rome with Love (2012), Days of Vinyl (2012), A Translator (2018) and My Friend from the Park (2015). She has also worked in television, including The Man of Your Dreams (2011).
In addition to acting, Álvarez works as a director, choreographer, curator and teacher, with projects presented at festivals and institutions in Argentina and abroad. She received a Konex Award diploma of merit in 2022 for performance.
