Biography
Mariela Besuievsky is a Uruguayan film producer based in Spain. She has been a partner at Tornasol Films since 1999 and has worked as producer or executive producer on more than 150 films. She graduated in dramatic arts in Uruguay and studied cinema at the International School of Film and Television (EICTV) in Cuba.
Her first film as producer was El Dirigible (1994), which premiered in the Critics' Week section at the Cannes Film Festival. She produced The Secret in Their Eyes (2009), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and has credits on films including The Oxford Murders (2008), Son of the Bride (2001), Tetro (2009) and The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (2018).
Besuievsky received the European Co-Production Award (Prix Eurimages) in 2011 and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
