Biography
Marilyn Sokol is an American actress who has worked in film, television and theatre. She made her screen debut in the 1970s and appeared as Linda in The Goodbye Girl (1977). Other film roles include Stella in Foul Play (1978), Doris in Crocodile Dundee II (1988), Marie in Family Business (1989), the Chanting Woman in The Basketball Diaries (1995), Madame in Man on the Moon (1999) and a Bag Lady in The Producers (2005).
On television she has appeared in episodes of Law & Order, Sex and the City (as Dr. Velma Rubin), The Blacklist and Broad City. Sokol began her professional career in 1966 as a belly dancer in a national production of Man of La Mancha and has performed on Broadway in productions including The Great God Brown, Don Juan, Welcome to the Club and Conversations With My Father. She has received an Obie Award, an Emmy Award and a Bistro Award.
