Biography
Marina Hands is a French stage and film actress. She was born on 10 January 1975 in Paris. She is the daughter of British theatre director Terry Hands and French actress Ludmila Mikaël, and the granddaughter of painter Pierre Dmitrienko. She trained at the Cours Florent, the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
Hands made her stage debut in 1999 in Le Bel Air de Londres and received a Molière Award nomination. Her early films include La Fidélité (2000) and The Barbarian Invasions (2003). She is known for roles in Tell No One (2006), The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007) as Joséphine, Jappeloup (2013) and the television series Black Spot (2017). She won the César Award for Best Actress for her performance in Lady Chatterley (2006).
In 2006 she joined the Comédie-Française, leaving after two years before rejoining in 2020 and becoming a sociétaire in 2024. She has received further Molière Awards, including for Actrice (2018) and Le Soulier de satin (2025). She appears as Emilie Hamel in the 2026 film De la Comédie-Française.
