Biography

Mario Davignon is a Canadian costume designer. He trained in costume design, set decoration and lighting at Cégep Lionel-Groulx, studied theatre and haute couture in Montreal, and began working in film and television in the 1970s.

He progressed from wardrobe assistant and supervisor roles on productions including Quest for Fire (1981), Romeo + Juliet (1996) and Arrival (2016) to lead costume designer credits from the mid-1990s. These include Highlander III: The Sorcerer (1994), Tideland (2005), Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008), Race (2016), Midway (2019) and Moonfall (2022), as well as the television miniseries The Pillars of the Earth (2010) and World Without End (2012).

Davignon has received a Genie Award for Head in the Clouds (2004), a Costume Designers Guild Award for Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (2007) and a Prix Iris for Hochelaga, Land of Souls (2017), together with further nominations including a Primetime Emmy.
