Biography
Marion Hargrove was an American writer and screenwriter. Born in Mount Olive, North Carolina, he began his career as a journalist before serving as a war correspondent during the Second World War. His humorous columns formed the basis of the bestselling book See Here, Private Hargrove (1942), which was adapted into a 1944 film.
After the war, Hargrove settled in Los Angeles and wrote screenplays and television scripts. He received a Writers Guild of America award for his screenplay for the 1962 film The Music Man. His television credits include episodes of Maverick (1957), I Spy (1965), The Waltons (1972) and Fantasy Island (1978). He died in Long Beach, California, in 2003.
