Biography
Mark Andrus is an American screenwriter. He was born on 13 December 1955 in Los Angeles. After earning an MBA from the University of California, Riverside, he took a creative writing class and went on to complete a Master of Professional Writing at the University of Southern California.
Andrus received his first screen credit for the 1991 film Late for Dinner. He wrote the original screenplay Old Friends, which was rewritten with James L. Brooks to become As Good as It Gets (1997). The pair shared the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay and the Southeastern Film Critics Association Award for Best Original Screenplay, and received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Screenplay.
His other credits include the original screenplays for Life as a House (2001) and Georgia Rule (2007), the adaptation Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (2002), And So It Goes (2014) and Otherhood (2019).
