Biography
Mark Suozzo is an American composer, arranger, conductor and guitarist. He studied at Columbia University, where he took a BA, and at the Manhattan School of Music, where he earned a Master of Music degree.
Suozzo has composed scores for numerous independent films, most notably a long collaboration with director Whit Stillman that began with Metropolitan (1990) and continued on Barcelona (1994), The Last Days of Disco (1998), Damsels in Distress (2012) and Love & Friendship (2016). He has also worked with Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini on American Splendor (2003) and The Nanny Diaries (2007), and with Mary Harron on The Notorious Bettie Page (2006).
In addition to film work he has scored documentaries for HBO, PBS and others, arranged recordings for artists including Creed, Aretha Franklin and Britney Spears, and taught as Music Associate Professor and co-director of Film Scoring at NYU Steinhardt.
