Biography

Mark Randolph Whiting is an American animation designer, art director and production designer. Born on 4 July 1964 in Birmingham, Michigan, he graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena in 1989. He began his career as an illustrator before moving into animation.

Whiting served as production designer on the animated feature The Iron Giant (1999), for which he also designed the title character. His other credits include visual development on Finding Nemo (2003), character design on Space Jam (1996), and art direction on the television series Duck Dodgers (2003–2005). He wrote and directed the live-action short Apple Jack (2003).

He is the grandson of Oscar Lundin, who served as vice chairman of General Motors.
