Biography
Masamichi Amano (also credited as Yoshi.Hoka) is a Japanese composer, arranger and conductor. Born on 26 January 1957 in Akita, Japan, he studied at Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo, graduating first in his class in composition in 1980 and receiving the Takeoka Prize. He completed a master's degree there in 1982.
Amano is known for his orchestral scores, frequently performed and recorded with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. His film work includes the score for Battle Royale (2000), as well as Battle Royale II: Requiem (2003) and The Geisha House (1998). Other credits encompass anime and television such as Giant Robo, Stratos 4 and Bio Hunter (1995). He has also composed extensively for wind ensembles and received Japan Academy Prize nominations for his film music.
