Biography
Masao Imafuku was a Japanese actor. Born on 8 April 1921 in Iizuka, Fukuoka Prefecture, he graduated from Fukuoka Prefectural Kaho Junior High School in 1940 and worked as a technician before joining the NHK Fukuoka Broadcasting Drama Troupe in 1946 after the Second World War.
He appeared in numerous films, television dramas, radio plays and stage productions over several decades, often in supporting roles. His credits include Kill! (1968), Demons (1971), Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974) as Tengan Kunigami, the Azumi Royal Family High Priest, Oshin (1983) as Imamura Genemon and Gemini (1999) as the Old Man in the Slums. He received the 5th Japan Broadcasting Writers Association Male Acting Award.
Imafuku died on 27 May 2015 in Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture, aged 94.
