Biography
Masao Tamai (3 October 1908 – 26 May 1997) was a Japanese cinematographer. He worked extensively with director Mikio Naruse on films including Repast (1951), Sound of the Mountain (1954), Floating Clouds (1955) and When a Woman Ascends the Stairs (1960).
Tamai was cinematographer on Ishirō Honda's Godzilla (1954). He received credit on the 1956 American re-edit Godzilla, King of the Monsters! and on the 1977 re-release of the original film.
