Biography

Masashi Koizuka (also credited as 肥塚 正史) is a Japanese animator and director. He was born in 1980 and graduated from Hosei University. He began his career at the animation studio Bee Train and later joined WIT Studio.

Koizuka served as assistant director, prop designer and sub-character designer on the first season of Attack on Titan (2013). He subsequently directed the second and third seasons (2017–2019), as well as the compilation films Attack on Titan: The Roar of Awakening (2018) and Attack on Titan: Chronicle (2020). He has also directed episodes of Robotics;Notes (2012–2013) and Seraph of the End (2015), where he worked as assistant director.

More recent credits include direction of the series Moonrise (2025) and the upcoming The One Piece remake.
