Biography
Masatô Ibu, born Satoru Murota on 28 March 1949 in Nakano, Tokyo, is a Japanese actor and voice actor. He attended Toho High School and began his career in theatre after leaving school early. He has worked under several stage names, including Masayuki Ibu, and has been active since 1967.
Ibu is known for his film roles including Sgt. Nagata in Empire of the Sun (1987), Nagamasa Asano in Azumi (2003), the Xilian General in Godzilla: Final Wars (2004), and Koichi Kido in Emperor (2012). His voice work includes Desler in Space Battleship Yamato (2010) and narration in Future Boy Conan (1978). He has also appeared in numerous television dramas and worked as a narrator, disc jockey and singer.
