Biography
Masato Ide (1920–1989) was a Japanese screenwriter and novelist. He wrote screenplays for more than fifty films and collaborated with director Akira Kurosawa from 1963.
His credits with Kurosawa include Red Beard (1965), Kagemusha (1980) and Ran (1985). He also wrote for other directors, including Yoshitarō Nomura on The Demon (1978).
Ide received a BAFTA nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for Ran.
