Biography

Masato Yamanouchi (山内 雅人, 3 April 1929 – 7 April 2003) was a Japanese voice actor, actor and narrator. Born in Tokyo, he graduated from Waseda University Faculty of Law and joined the NHK Tokyo Broadcasting Theater Company in its fourth intake. He worked there until 1977, when he became freelance, and remained active until his death.

Over a career spanning nearly six decades he contributed to thousands of works. His voice roles include Grandpa and Dr Briac Lao in the television series Future Boy Conan (1978), the Foreign Minister in the film Ghost in the Shell (1995), Emperor Dornkirk in The Vision of Escaflowne (1996) and the Muskrat in Comet in Moominland (1992). He also dubbed numerous foreign films, including performances by Tyrone Power and Montgomery Clift.
