Biography
Masayuki Yamaguchi, known professionally as Masayuki, is a Japanese animator, director and storyboard artist. He was born on 3 January 1961 in Nagano Prefecture and trained at Tokyo Designer Gakuin College before entering the animation industry in 1982.
He is best known for his work on the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise. On the 1995 television series he served as assistant director, directed episodes 19, 24 and 26, and provided storyboards for several episodes. He co-directed the first three Rebuild of Evangelion films (Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone, 2007; Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, 2009; Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, 2012) and has collaborated with Hideaki Anno on projects including Gunbuster (1988) and Shin Godzilla (2016).
Masayuki has contributed key animation, storyboards and other roles to numerous anime and live-action productions. He serves as executive advisor of Khara.
