Biography
Massimo Sarchielli (1931–2010) was an Italian actor, director and mime. Born in Florence, he trained at the acting school founded by Giorgio Strehler in Milan. He made his film debut in Federico Fellini’s Giulietta degli spiriti (1965) and went on to appear in works by Pier Paolo Pasolini, the Taviani brothers and Marco Bellocchio.
His screen credits include the blind man in The Conformist (1970), the innkeeper in Ladyhawke (1985), Nino in Under the Tuscan Sun (2003) and Franco in Miracle at St. Anna (2008). He also directed and wrote Anna (1975). Sarchielli died in Rome.
