Biography
Mat Johnson is an American novelist, graphic novelist and television writer. Born in Philadelphia in 1970, he studied at Earlham College and received an MFA from Columbia University. He is a professor of creative writing at the University of Oregon and the author of novels including Pym (2011) and Loving Day (2015), as well as the graphic novel Incognegro (2008).
Johnson wrote the teleplay for the episode "The Black Cat" of the Netflix series The Fall of the House of Usher (2023), on which he also served as co-producer. He contributed story and served as executive story editor on the miniseries Manhunt (2024).
