Biography
Mateo Willis is a British cinematographer and director specialising in natural history documentaries. He worked as cinematographer on five episodes of the BBC series Planet Earth II (2016). Other credits include Blue Planet II, Frozen Planet, Our Planet (2019) and Dynasties (2018).
Willis began his career as a cinematographer in his early thirties, following work in photography, music and art. He has received Emmy and BAFTA awards for his contributions to wildlife series. He has since directed and produced projects including Night on Earth (2020), Hostile Planet (2019) and Omnivore (2024), as well as the short film Eulogy (2020).
