Biography
Mateus Alves is a Brazilian composer. He is credited as composer on The Secret Agent (2025) and Bacurau (2019), often collaborating with Tomaz Alves Souza, and contributed to the soundtrack of Aquarius (2016).
Alves is from Recife, Pernambuco. He studied at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, the Conservatório Pernambucano de Música and completed a master's degree in composition at the Royal College of Music in London. He began composing for film in the early 2010s after earlier work as a bassist in instrumental and experimental bands.
His film credits also include O Clube das Mulheres de Negócios (2024), Retrato de um Certo Oriente (2024) and several shorts.
