Biography
Matsumoto Hakuō II (born Teruaki Fujima, 19 August 1942) is a Japanese kabuki actor and performer in film and television. He made his stage debut in 1945 at the age of three and later took the name Ichikawa Somegorō VI. He succeeded to the name Matsumoto Kōshirō IX in 1981 and assumed his current name in 2018. A graduate of Waseda University, he has performed in kabuki, Western stage productions, film and television.
His film roles include Yukie Makino in 13 Assassins (2010), Uzuki's father in April Story (1998) and the voice of Hitsujirō Munakata in Suzume (2022). He appeared in the lead role in Man of La Mancha on Broadway in 1970. He is the son of actor Matsumoto Hakuō I and brother of Nakamura Kichiemon II; his daughter is actress Takako Matsu.
