Biography
Matt Alvarez is a film producer. He began his career at New Line Cinema and Fine Line Features, where he worked on films including Rumble in the Bronx (1995) and Deconstructing Harry (1997). He later co-founded the production company Cube Vision with Ice Cube.
Alvarez has produced or executive produced a number of comedies and franchises, including the Friday series, the Barbershop films, Are We There Yet? (2005), Are We Done Yet? (2007), the Ride Along films and Straight Outta Compton (2015). He has also served as executive producer on Eli (2019). In 2015 he joined Broad Green Pictures as an in-house producer; the following year he was named the company’s president of production.
