Biography
Matt Day (also credited as Matthew Day) is an Australian actor and filmmaker. Born on 28 September 1971 in Melbourne, Victoria, he attended Princes Hill Secondary College and St Martins Youth Arts Centre. He was first cast at the age of 14 in the ABC series c/o The Bartons and at 17 moved to Sydney for the role of Julian 'Luke' Ross in the long-running series A Country Practice.
Day's feature film credits include Brice Nobes in Muriel's Wedding (1994), Love and Other Catastrophes (1996) and Kiss or Kill (1997); the last of these brought nominations for an Australian Film Institute Award and a Film Critics Circle of Australia Award. Television roles include appearances in Spooks, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Rake and Tangle, as well as the films Scoop (2006) and Sweet Country (2018). He has also directed and written for screen.
