Biography
Matt Sakatani Roe is a cinematographer whose credits include the Netflix film Purple Hearts (2022), directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum. He has also served as director of photography on Sneakerella (2022), The God Committee (2021) and My Dead Friend Zoe (2024).
A native of Alabama, Roe studied media at Auburn University. After moving to Los Angeles he interned for director Mark Pellington and later shot second-unit work on several of his projects, including the 2018 Sundance selection Nostalgia. He has collaborated repeatedly with Rosenbaum and frequently works with Sony VENICE cameras paired with Cooke S7/i lenses.
