Biography
Matthew J. McCarthy is an American actor, comedian, writer and improviser. Born on 9 November 1979 in Providence, Rhode Island, he grew up in Rumford and attended St Margaret's School and La Salle Academy. He graduated from Fordham University, where he served as the mascot The Ram from 1999 to 2001, and later studied improvisation at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York.
McCarthy is known for film roles including Therapy Cop in The Other Guys (2010), voice work as Rodney Pig and Acrobat Pig in The Angry Birds Movie (2016), and Sid in Companion (2025). Television credits include appearances in White Collar (2009), Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013), Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000) and a recurring role as Carl in How We Roll (2022). He co-founded the sketch group Front Page Films with Pete Holmes and has appeared on CollegeHumor and Conan.
