Biography

Matthew Sunderland is a New Zealand actor. He graduated from Toi Whakaari, the New Zealand Drama School, in 1997.

He is known for his lead performance as David Gray in the 2006 film Out of the Blue, for which he won the Best Actor award at the 2008 New Zealand Screen Awards. Sunderland has appeared in numerous New Zealand and international productions, including The Lost City of Z (2017), 6 Days (2017), The Nightingale (2018), Bloody Hell (2020), The Stranger (2022) and Pearl (2022) as Father.
