Biography

Matthew Temple is an Australian cinematographer and member of the Australian Cinematographers Society. He has more than thirty years’ experience in the camera department, beginning as a trainee at ABC Television in Sydney and progressing through roles as assistant, operator and Steadicam operator before becoming a director of photography.

Temple’s feature debut as cinematographer was the 2023 horror film Late Night with the Devil, for which he received AACTA, AFCA and FCCA nominations. Earlier credits as Steadicam or camera operator include The Wolverine (2013), Tracks (2013) and The Sapphires (2012). On television he has shot series including three seasons of Please Like Me, Five Bedrooms (2019–2023), Frayed (2019–2021) and New Gold Mountain (2021). He has won several ACS awards and a Gold ACS award for the drama New Gold Mountain.
