Biography
Matthieu Chedid (also credited as Matthieu Chédid, M or -M-) is a French multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and composer. He began his career as a session musician on acoustic and electric guitar before rising to prominence in the late 1990s under the alias -M-, releasing albums that blend nouvelle chanson, electronic and rock styles.
Chedid has composed soundtracks for several films, including Tell No One (2006) and, with Patrice Renson, A Monster in Paris (2011). He provided the music for Faces Places (2017). He has also appeared in films such as Little White Lies (2010) and More Than Ever (2022), and voiced a character in A Monster in Paris. Since 2018 he has received the most awards at the Victoires de la Musique, with 13 trophies.
He is the son of singer Louis Chedid and has collaborated with family members in music projects, including the band Lamomali.
