Biography
Matthieu Taponier is a Franco-American film editor and writer. After studying modern literature in Paris, he completed an MFA in filmmaking at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He has also trained as a script consultant at the TorinoFilmLab’s Script&Pitch programme.
Taponier edited Son of Saul (2015), directed by László Nemes, which received the Grand Prix at Cannes and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He co-wrote and edited Nemes’s follow-up Sunset (2018). His other editing credits include Beginning (2020), Adventures of a Mathematician (2020) and The Settlers (2023). He has worked as a script consultant on several features and tutors at screenwriting workshops.
