Biography
Matti Jaaranen is a Finnish actor and musician. Born on 22 September 1951 in Valtimo, he began his career in theatre, joining Ylioppilasteatteri in 1974 and working as a set designer at Ryhmäteatteri before moving into performance.
He joined the comedy band Lapinlahden Linnut in 1983 as a performer, singer and trumpeter, appearing in their numerous television sketch series including Seitsemän kuolemansyntiä (1988) and Kuudesti laukeava (1992). His film roles include the mugger in Aki Kaurismäki’s Ariel (1988) and parts in Kiljusen herrasväen uudet seikkailut (1990) and Tanssi perhoseni tanssi (1999). He has also contributed writing and production design to several projects.
