Biography
Maurice Baron (1889–1964) was a French-born composer, conductor and arranger active in American film and theatre.
He studied music in France before emigrating to the United States. He served as assistant conductor with the Boston Opera Company, violinist with the Seattle Symphony and violist with the San Francisco Symphony. From 1932 he was staff composer and conductor at Radio City Music Hall.
Baron contributed scores and orchestrations to silent films including The Big Parade (1925), Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927) and The River (1929). He published more than 350 compositions and received the French title of Officier d'Académie.
