Biography
Mauricio Vidal is a Colombian cinematographer. Born in Ibagué in 1969, he studied social communication at the Universidad Externado de Colombia in Bogotá. He began his career as an editor on documentary travel shows, later working as a gaffer before becoming a director of photography on short films and features.
His credits include Satanás (2007), Undertow (2009, nominated for a Macondo Award for best cinematography), and Monte Adentro (2014, special mention at Camerimage). He served as second-unit cinematographer on the first season of Narcos (2015) and worked as a camera operator on Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. Later projects include La Suprema (2023) and The Lost Children (2024). He has received multiple Macondo Award nominations and is a founding member of the Colombian Association of Directors of Photography.
