Biography
Maurizio Braucci is an Italian writer and screenwriter born in Naples in 1966. He began publishing fiction in the late 1990s and moved into screenwriting in the mid-2000s.
He co-wrote the screenplay for Gomorrah (2008) with Matteo Garrone, Roberto Saviano and others. Subsequent credits include Reality (2012), Pasolini (2014), Black Souls (2014), Martin Eden (2019), Piranhas (2019) and Palazzina LAF (2023). He has also written for Abel Ferrara and Pietro Marcello.
Braucci has received three David di Donatello awards for best screenplay (Gomorrah, Black Souls and Martin Eden) and a European Film Award for Gomorrah. He has published several novels and is active in cultural and educational projects in Naples.
