Biography
Mauro Herce is a Spanish cinematographer and director. Born in Barcelona in 1976, he studied telecommunications engineering and fine arts before training in film at the EICTV in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, and the École nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière in Paris.
Herce has frequently collaborated with director Óliver Laxe, serving as director of photography on Mimosas (2016), Fire Will Come (2019) and Sirāt (2025). He has also worked on films including Longa Noite (2019) and Samsara (2023). He made his feature directorial debut with the documentary Dead Slow Ahead (2015).
Herce has received multiple awards for his cinematography, including the Goya Award for Fire Will Come and the European Film Award for Best Cinematographer for Sirāt, as well as Gaudí Awards.
