Biography
Maxine Alderton is a British screenwriter. She began her career as a script editor on the ITV soap opera Emmerdale in the mid-2000s, later writing more than 124 episodes for the series from 2013 to 2022. She won the Best Writer award at the Royal Television Society Yorkshire Awards in 2017.
Alderton has also written for the CBBC series The Worst Witch (2017–2018). For the BBC science fiction series Doctor Who (2005), she wrote the twelfth-series episode "The Haunting of Villa Diodati" (2020) and co-wrote the thirteenth-series episode "Village of the Angels" (2021) with Chris Chibnall. She contributed episodes to the fourth and fifth series of the period drama All Creatures Great & Small (2020) and wrote for the second series of the thriller After the Flood (2026).
