Biography
Maz Jobrani is an Iranian-American comedian and actor. Born Maziyar Jobrani in Tehran, Iran, he moved to California at the age of six and was raised in the San Francisco Bay area. He earned a B.A. in political science and Italian from the University of California, Berkeley, before leaving a Ph.D. programme at UCLA to pursue performing.
Jobrani is a founding member of the Axis of Evil comedy group, whose Comedy Central special aired in 2007. He has appeared in numerous television series, including as Dr. Bhamba in Better Off Ted (2009), and guest roles in Grey's Anatomy, Shameless, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Superior Donuts. His film credits include 13 Going on 30 (2004), The Interpreter (2005), Friday After Next (2002) and Descendants (2015), in which he played Jafar. He co-wrote and starred in the 2016 comedy Jimmy Vestvood: Amerikan Hero.
