Biography
Mechthild Großmann is a German actress and voice artist. Born on 23 December 1948 in Münster, she trained as an actor in Hamburg after early ballet studies and began her stage career with an engagement at the Bremen Theatre in 1969.
She joined the Tanztheater Pina Bausch in Wuppertal in 1976, remaining a core member until 2017 and appearing in the company’s film Die Klage der Kaiserin (1989). Film and television credits include Berlin Alexanderplatz (1980), Nowhere in Africa (2001) as Elsa Konrad, and the long-running role of Staatsanwältin Wilhelmine Klemm in the Münster Tatort series from 2002 to 2025. She is married to director Stephan Meyer.
