Biography
Fang Mei, also credited as Mei Fang or 梅芳, is a Taiwanese actress. She began her career in radio in 1954 and moved into television in 1963, later appearing frequently in films directed by Hou Hsiao-hsien.
She is known for roles including Nie Feng's Mother in The Assassin (2015), Wu's Mother in A City of Sadness (1989), Chin's Mother in Taipei Story (1985), Wan's Mother in Dust in the Wind (1986), and Ming's Wife in The Time to Live and the Time to Die (1985). Other credits include appearances in Three Times (2005), That Day, on the Beach (1983), and A Summer at Grandpa's (1984).
Mei Fang won the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actress for Orz Boyz (2008) and received the Golden Bell Award for Lifetime Contribution in 2016.
