Biography
Melissa James Gibson is a Canadian-born playwright and television writer based in New York. She grew up in North Vancouver and graduated from Columbia University and the Yale School of Drama, where she received an MFA in playwriting.
She is known for her stage works including the plays [sic] (2001), which earned an Obie Award for playwriting and a Kesselring Prize, and This (2009). Gibson wrote episodes for the first two seasons of the FX series The Americans (2013–2014). She later served as co-showrunner on Netflix’s House of Cards and co-created and co-showran Anatomy of a Scandal (2022) with David E. Kelley. She wrote the screenplay for the feature film All Is Bright (2013).
