Biography
Melvin Shapiro (1925–2007) was an American film and television editor. He began working in editing in the late 1950s and contributed to around sixty productions over the following decades.
Shapiro edited Taxi Driver (1976) with Marcia Lucas and Tom Rolf. He received a BAFTA nomination for Best Film Editing for the film. His other feature credits include Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here (1969), Finian's Rainbow (1968), Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971, as associate editor), Ice Castles (1978) and No Small Affair (1984). He also edited episodes of series such as Mork & Mindy.
