Biography
Meriel Sheibani-Clare is a British television writer, also credited as Meriel Baistow-Clare. She holds a BA in English Literature from Oxford University and an MA in Modern Literature from Queen Mary University of London.
She began her career in script editing on the adaptations Poirot (2010) and Agatha Christie's Marple (2010). She joined The Crown as script editor on its fourth season, later serving as staff writer on the fifth and sixth seasons. She co-wrote the episode 'Ritz' with Peter Morgan for the sixth season, which received a 2024 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series and a Humanitas Prize nomination.
Her other credits include work in the writers' rooms for Everything Now (second season) and Little Disasters. She is writing an episode of the upcoming Netflix limited series The Boys from Brazil (2026) with Peter Morgan. She has also written the libretto for the opera Tell Me the Truth About Love.
